LGBTQ Short Story Out TODAY!
I know that I always say, "I'm not a short story writer" (and I'm not, it's very hard for me) but I have a publisher who was high on cold meds and took my short anyway! Ok, he wasn't high on cold meds, or I think he wasn't at that time, but he still took my short, The Color of Love, anyway. Interestingly enough, I "sold" it on the premise of how the title relates to the story and then I worked with my FANTASTIC editor (Emily Leverett) and the short went from something I thought was a nice idea, to a really lovely story. THANK GOD FOR EDITORS! I mean that with all sincerity!
You likely noticed I put quotes around the word, sold. That's because all writers involved in this project have waved their rights to be paid (EVER) for this book. All proceeds got to LGBTQ charities in North Carolina. Here, I'll explain by copy/pasting from the info John Hartness put on Amazon:
"Over two dozen writers from North Carolina or with deep ties to the Tarheel State band together to raise money for LGBTQ charities in Charlotte and North Carolina as a response to the NC General Assembly's passage of HB2, the "bathroom bill." We are not discrimination. We are not hate. We are not fear. We are not oppression. We Are Not This.
Proceeds from the sale of this anthology will go to support LGBTQ charities and non-profits in North Carolina."
